Craig DeMartino's love of climbing began 22 years ago. However, in a miscommunication with his partner in 2002, Craig was dropped 100 feet to the ground. Craig suffered shattered right and left heels, a broken back that was fused for three levels, shattered ankles, broken neck, ribs, punctured lung, and a rare nerve disorder called RSD. Craig chose to amputate his shattered right leg, and has since made an inspirational comeback, breaking numerous records in disabled climbing (first amputee to climb The Nose of El Capitan).
After the accident and experiencing what I’ve experienced, you gain an appreciation for your life”
