Jason Haas is a math teacher, co-owner of Fixed Pin Publishing, and a rock climber (free solo climbing on occasion). He has done climbing in Alaska, Africa, Asia, South America and all over the continental US. Jason has completed over 550 first ascents, many of which are done to create guidebooks for Fixed Pin. Free soloing allows me to appreciate aspects of that [life], but if I was in doubt of it, I wouldn't do it.
Gear Recommendations
TrangoShark Nut Tool
The Shark combines two useful and common climbing tools into one: a stainless steel nut tool, and a razor-sharp locking knife. The serrated blade is machined from surgical quality 440-C stainless steel. While the locking blade can be opened and closed with one hand, it will not open when clipped to a carabiner.
TrangoUltratape
Ultratape runners and draws use a nylon and dyneema weave to create 12 mm of light, durable and extremely strong (22 kN) webbing.
