Howie Sanborn served in the U.S. Army for 13 years as an Airborne Ranger. Two of those years were spent in Iraq helping with Operation Iraqi Freedom and five years as a Parachute Demonstrator on the U.S Army Parachute Team "The Golden Knights". On September 9th, 2012 he was hit by a distracted driver while cycling and training for a triathlon. This accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, but in typical Meister fashion, he is now still competing in triathlons and is training for the 2016 Paralympics.
Oh, you use your legs in the triathlon? That's kind of the wussy way to do it...
